Helen Marie “Duensing” Johns, 94, passed away September 20, 2018 at St. Luke’s in Carthage. Helen was born September 11, 1924 in Joplin to Herman Edward and Lillias Mae “McClusky” Duensing. Helen was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Jasper County. She also worked at Empire District Electric in her early adult years. Helen was a member of Fairview Christian Church in Carthage.
Helen was united in marriage to Theodore Mitchell Johns at the family home on April 21, 1946; he preceded her in death.
Helen is survived by one daughter, Janet Mae Johnson and husband John of Olney, MD; one son, Edward Mitchell Johns and wife Alice of Carthage; one brother, William Duensing and wife Twyla of Webb City; four grandchildren, Jessica, John, Ethan and Owen; four great grandchildren, Daniel, Isaiah, Avery and Wyatt.
Helen was preceded in death by one sister, Isabelle Wright Moss.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City.
