A Webb City woman faces new criminal charges after leading officers from several jurisdictions in a pursuit that ended after a dramatic chase the wrong way around the Carthage Square on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020.

Carthage Community Policing Officer Chad Dininger said Breshia Grosso, 27, of Webb City, failed to stop when officers in Joplin tried to stop her for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Dininger said the pursuit entered Carthage on Fir Road and came to the Square on Grand Avenue.

The driver traveled around the Square the wrong way and flattened her tires when she drove onto the sidewalk on the inside of the Square.

Video shared on Facebook shows the car driving on the sidewalk on Fourth Street to get around police vehicles blocking the street, then driving off the sidewalk on Main Street and turning north.

Dininger said the driver came to a stop on her own on Main Street near the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

He said Carthage Police took the woman into custody on outstanding felony warrants and she was booked into the Jasper County Jail.

A check of state court records shows that Breshia Rochelle Grosso, with a Webb City address, faces outstanding warrants for violating parole on a felony charge of possession of marijuana, dating from September 2014.

Charges had not been filed as of 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the pursuit.
