Sheriff, State Fire Marshall investigating Alba fire that claims two lives

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office along with the Missouri State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating possible causes of a fire that occurred Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020 in rural Alba.

The Sheriff’s Department responded at approximately 10:40 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, deputies saw a fully engulfed trailer house and were told there were two people trapped inside.

Tri-Cities Fire Protection District, Oronogo Fire District and Carthage Fire Department responded to battle the blaze.

After the fire was extinguished, firefighters located two bodies inside the residence. Eight-year-old Kynzee Norris and six-year-old Laynee Norris were deceased inside the structure fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation.
