OCH Jasper County Clinic is excited to announce the addition of its new full-time clinical psychologist, Amie L. Cooper, PsyD. MSCP, just in time for Mental Health Awareness Month, celebrated every May.
Did you know 1 in 5 people will experience a mental health illness during their lifetime and nearly 1 in 25 adults in America live with a serious mental illness? OCH is committed to providing behavioral health care and helping patients find resources available in the communities they serve.
“We are thrilled to have a new psychologist at our clinic,” says Tierra Haws, OCH Jasper County Clinic Manager. “Our patient load has continued to grow, and this is a much needed specialty for many of our patients and the community.”
Dr. Cooper works Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at the OCH Jasper County Clinic located at 327 E. Airport Drive in Carthage, MO. She uses a holistic approach and is able to see all ages! A few areas Dr. Cooper focuses on are pre-surgical assessments, pain assessments, parenting assessments, addiction treatment and assessments, severe and persistent mental illness, and early intervention for children.
“Being properly diagnosed with a comprehensive psychological evaluation is the first step to mental health treatment,” Haws said. “Leading a healthy lifestyle is an ongoing process. You are never too young or too old to make changes for an improved you.”
Dr. Cooper received her education from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology earning both a Masters and Doctorate degree. She obtained a post doctorate Masters in Clinical Psychopharmacology from Alliant International University. She is currently a student member of the Academy of Medical Psychology Board of Directors.
