On Friday, March 1, 2024, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a Jasper County Deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle on CR 138 north of Carthage. The motorcycle refused to stop and attempted to elude the deputy. The driver then abandoned the motorcycle near Church Street in Kendrick Town. A short foot pursuit ensued and the suspect, identified as Nathaniel C. Norris, 30, of Sarcoxie was taken into custody.
Norris had two active Felony warrants for his arrest. The first was a felony domestic warrant and the second was a felony stealing warrant, both from Jasper County. Norris also faces several traffic charges in relation to the pursuit.
Norris was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in Carthage awaiting formal charges from the Prosecutors Office.
