Carthage man charged with drug trafficking after meth found in hoodie during traffic stop

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney’s office filed drug trafficking charges against a Carthage man, who allegedly had methamphetamine in his hoodie during a Carthage Police Department traffic stop Wednesday.

An arrest warrant was issued for Bobby Brandon Masters (DOB 1978) and bond set at $25,000 cash or surety.

According to the probable cause statement, Masters was the passenger in a car that was stopped after it was following another vehicle too closely and almost rear ended it.

The operator of the vehicle gave consent to search vehicle in which a gray Carhart Hoodie was located in the passenger floorboard where Masters was sitting. 

The operator of the vehicle stated the hoodie belonged to Masters. Masters was taken out ofthe vehicle and taken into custody due to having an active and confirmed warrant out of Jasper County. Inside the hoodie there was a green and an orange Crown Royal bag that contained multiple baggies that contained a crystal substance that by my training and experience to be methamphetamine. 

Items located in the bag were: 7 baggies with crystal substance 28.9 grams, 7.5 grams, 14.9 grams, 14.7 grams, 7.5 grams, 7.1 grams, and 28.5 grams for a total of 109.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Along with the suspected narcotics there was a scale with crystal residue on the weighing platform, a glass pipe with crystal residue, 12 empty baggies, and 5 Clonazepam pills (schedule 4 controlled substance). 

Masters was advised of his Miranda Rights in which he admitted to the Hoodie being his along with the contents located in the hoodie to be his. Masters stated the methamphetamine was only personal use and that he had a problem.
