The Carthage Ministerial Alliance will host its annual National Day of Prayer Service this week with some adjustments to take into account physical distancing requirements brought on by the current pandemic.
Regina Shank, with the Alliance, said the event will be held at noon, Thursday, May 7, on the south side of the Jasper County Courthouse on the Carthage Square.
Shank said only 25 seats will be set up to allow for people to sit a proper distance away to discourage the possible spread of the coronavirus among a crowd.
“We’ll just encourage people to stay six feet apart,” Shank said. “A lot of people who attend this event like to stand anyway. We worked with the Carthage Police Department and the Jasper County Commissioners to put the event together.”
Shank said a host of local pastors will speak at the event, joined by city and county leaders.
She said the theme for the event is “God’s Glory Across the Earth.”
Carthage Mayor Dan Rife has signed a proclamation declaring May 7 National Day of Prayer in Carthage.
