JOPLIN — At Mercy, the health and safety of our patients,  community and co-workers are our top priority. In an attempt to combat the spread of COVID-19, Mercy will be restricting visitors in the Southwest Missouri/Southeast Kansas communities, effective Wednesday, March 18.

This includes Mercy clinics in those communities, as well as hospital campuses in Joplin, Carthage, Columbus and Galena. The restrictions will limit patients to one visitor per day. Exceptions may be made for those who are near end of life.

Only parents will be allowed in our neonatal intensive care unit, labor and delivery and recovery departments. Unless they are seeking treatment, visitors under age 18 will not be permitted in Mercy hospitals or clinics.

At Mercy Hospital Joplin, the cancer center entrance will be limited to cancer patients only in an attempt to shield them from other patients or visitors.

All patients seeking treatment in the emergency room in Joplin should continue to follow the signs and use that entrance of the hospital.
