LAMAR, Mo. — In response to community demand, Fair Acres Family YMCA of Carthage, Mo., will begin offering programs in Lamar, Mo.
“We are excited to bring YMCA programming to Lamar and the surrounding community so everyone has an opportunity to participate and reach their potential to build a healthy spirit, mind and body,” said Jonathan Roberts, Fair Acres Family YMCA CEO/Executive Director.
Starting in September, the Y will offer three classes in Lamar:
- Functional Fitness (an Active Older Adult Fitness Class) will start September 6. Taught by Nancy Adams and sponsored by Barton County Health Department, this class will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays, 10:15–11:15am, at Lamar Senior Center (306 W. 11th St.). Cost is $2/class.
- Tumbling (for ages 5-12) will start September 5. Taught by Haily Sheat, this class will be held on Tuesdays, 6:00-7:00pm, at Lamar Memorial Hall (1100 Broadway). Cost is $20/month for Fair Acres Family YMCA members and $30/month for non-members.
- Restorative Flexibility (for all ages) will start on September 18. Taught by Susan Roland, this class will be held Mondays, 5:30-6:30pm, at Lamar Christian Church (1208 Walnut St.). This class is free for Fair Acres YMCA members and costs $5/class for non-members. Yoga mats are provided or participants can bring their own.
