CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carthage R-9 School District proudly announces that Mrs. Sonora Jones has been named the 2024 Missouri Educators of Family & Consumer Sciences (MoEFCS) Teacher of the Year. This esteemed recognition is awarded by the Missouri Educators of Family & Consumer Sciences in acknowledgment of Mrs. Jones’s exceptional dedication and contributions to Career and Technical Education.

Mrs. Jones, an esteemed member of our faculty, has demonstrated unwavering commitment and passion for supporting Family and Consumer Sciences Education programs. Her remarkable efforts have been recognized by her peers and community members, as she was nominated by teachers and fair board members in our area for her ongoing commitment to the advancement of education.

As the instructor for ProStart Culinary Arts Classes at Carthage Tech Center, Mrs. Jones has played a pivotal role in the development and success of the CTC Catering program. Her leadership and expertise have greatly enriched the educational experience of our students and contributed to the growth of our Career and Technical Education initiatives.
