CIC teacher Jamie Alberts is a finalist for Missouri Classroom Heroes.

Carthage Intermediate Center teacher Jamie Alberts has been recognized as a finalist for the Classroom Heroes Award presented by Landers Chevrolet of Joplin and KOAM News Now.

According to the website:

“Between online and in-person classes, social distancing and wearing PPE in the classroom, teachers are now doing more than ever before. This semester, we asked you to nominate YOUR Classroom Hero! Each month, we selected one teacher, and they and their school received $500 and a basket of school supplies. Now, we’re choosing one of these three teachers to win our grand prize — $2,500 and a trophy!”

Alberts was nominated by his wife, who had this to say about her husband in her submission letter:

“My husband and the father of our three children graduated from MSSU with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2000 and from PSU with a bachelor’s degree in Educational Leadership in 2017. He has been teaching elementary kids in this area for about 16 years. As his spouse, I know he has gone above and beyond to improve his skills in the classroom and to improve the lives and education of so many children in this area. He is loved by all of his students. He is strict in the classroom in order to ensure management of the kids, but he is also fun and has a sense of humor with the kids. I am nominating him because sometimes the job can be extremely difficult and time consuming. He spends countless hours on the weeknights and weekends to prepare and grade assignments. He is an inspiration to me and every time we run into a past student they remember and thank him. As an older more experienced teacher he has been a mentor to many young teachers in his school district. He also serves on committees and volunteers for other tasks, such as making lesson plans and videos this summer for online students during the pandemic. Please consider my husband for this amazing recognition.”

Alberts is also a US Navy veteran and was a volunteer reserve sheriff deputy in Jasper County for 10+ years.
