Carthage R-9 School Board Announces Jason Vance as New Assistant Principal at Columbian, Steadley

CARTHAGE, Mo. – The Carthage R-9 Board of Education is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Jason Vance as the new Assistant Principal of Columbian Elementary and Steadley Elementary Schools, effective July 1, 2024.

Mr. Vance brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fostering growth and success within the educational community. Prior to his current role as Instructional Coach at Columbian Elementary, Mr. Vance spent eight years in Joplin, serving as an Elementary Teacher, a 7th-grade Teacher, and a Special Education Teacher at Joplin High School. In Carthage, he was an EL Teacher at Steadley Elementary for two years, District EL Coach for one year, and is finishing up his fourth year as an Instructional Coach.

Reflecting on his journey to this leadership role, Mr. Vance expressed gratitude, saying, “I am incredibly honored to serve as Assistant Principal in two schools that I love. I’m grateful to God for bringing me to this point and allowing me to serve in this way. I’m thankful for my wife, who has been a huge support and is the best teacher I know, and our four amazing boys. I’m thankful to the teachers, students, and principals I’ve worked with over the last several years, who inspired me to want to do this in the first place. I’m looking forward to helping Columbian and Steadley students and teachers continue to learn, grow, and live life to the fullest.”
