CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carthage R-9 Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kirk Bromley as the new Head Principal of the Carthage 6th Grade Center, effective July 1, 2024.
Mr. Bromley brings a wealth of experience and dedication to this role. He most recently served as Assistant Principal at Steadley and Columbian Elementary Schools within the Carthage R9 district, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in overseeing staff and students on a daily basis. In addition to his administrative duties, he served as Safety Coordinator, Student Support Team Lead, and Guiding Coalition Lead.
Prior to his tenure in Carthage, Mr. Bromley served as Principal at Jasper Elementary in the Jasper R5 district, where he served as an instructional leader and facilitated the development of curriculum while overseeing the entire elementary school. He also played a pivotal role in budget development at both the schoolwide and building levels.
Mr. Bromley’s career in Carthage began as a Teacher of American Government at Carthage High School, where he also served as an assistant varsity football and track coach. His passion for teaching and commitment to student success have been evident throughout his career.
“Because of the time he spent away from Carthage, Mr. Bromley brings coveted experience as a building leader to the 6th Grade Center. Because of his time spent IN Carthage—as both a teacher and assistant principal—he already possesses a solid understanding of Carthage students and the community as a whole. We look forward to working with Mr. Bromley in this new capacity,” said Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, Dr. Matt Huntley.
“I’m deeply honored to be selected as the next principal at Carthage’s 6th Grade Center, and I’m grateful to the interview committee and the Carthage School Board for their trust in me. Ms. Jacobs leaves big shoes to fill. I’m eager to meet the staff, foster strong relationships, and ensure a seamless transition for the whole community. Our focus will be on maintaining the center’s outstanding reputation, nurturing a supportive atmosphere, and prioritizing student achievement through data-driven decision-making,” stated Bromley.
“I extend my heartfelt thanks to my wife, Whitney, and our 3 children for their unwavering support and to Steadley and Columbian Elementary schools for their warm welcome and mentorship. Under the leadership of Dr. Lisa Northup and Mrs. Becky Chadd, I’ve learned valuable lessons that will guide me in this new role.”
Mr. Bromley will succeed Ms. Kelly Jacobs, who has served as the Head Principal of the Carthage 6th Grade Center since its inception in 2020. The Board of Education extends its sincere gratitude to Ms. Jacobs for her 11 years of service to Carthage Schools and wishes her the very best in her retirement.
