CARTHAGE, Mo. — After nine years with the Carthage Chamber of Commerce, Mark Elliff, President and CEO has announced plans to retire at the end of this year. “By announcing my retirement date now, the Board can begin a selection process to allow a smooth transition. I am very thankful to have been at the helm of this great organization of 430 members and look forward to the new leadership taking the Chamber to the next level,” said Elliff.
Since taking the leadership in April 2012, the Chamber has accomplished many successful projects not only for their membership, but the community as a whole. Increased membership, growth of the Maple Leaf Festival, developing businesses in Myers Park, and working with local businesses and industries to add nearly 500 new jobs in Carthage are just a few of the accomplishments.
Paul Eckels, Board Chair thanked Elliff for his years of service to the community including banking, Carthage School District, Carthage Crisis Center, First Christian Church and numerous city government activities. “We are a stronger community because of the Chamber’s advocacy of the business environment and its work toward the future growth potential of the city.”
Elliff stated, “Although I am stepping out of the day-to-day workforce, I will continue to be involved in several boards and volunteer organizations. Retirement is just a new title.”
