Ozarks Community Hospital’s Jasper County Clinic in Carthage will celebrate its expanding services by hosing an open house Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Carthage Chamber of Commerce will honor OCH during a special ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:15 a.m., and a free hot dog lunch will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m.

OCH recently expanded its hours to include Friday with the addition of Jennifer Clark, a new nurse practitioner at the clinic. The clinic, now open Monday through Friday, was previously open four days a week.

Clark, a graduate of Pittsburg State University in Kansas, previously worked for Mercy in its Joplin emergency room for the past three years. Along with her general family medicine practice, Clark has a passion for helping patients with weight loss. She is in the Carthage clinic on Wednesdays and Fridays and is currently accepting new patients.

The mother of four children and two grandchildren, Clark said if she’s not working you can probably find her spending time with her family. Being a mother inspired her to pursue her dream to become a nurse practitioner.

“My children watched me as I worked to become a nurse practitioner and now they see me as I work to care for my patients,” Clark said. “I felt if they see how much I love my career that they would feel encouraged to achieve their dreams, too.”
