When the Joplin Regional Partnership was renamed the MOKAN Partnership in December 2019, it sparked several changes within the organization, including the start of a $2 million fundraising campaign and a newly redesigned website.

On September 1, the Partnership announced they had reached the $1 million mark in their fundraising campaign. With the addition of Tony Robyn, MOKAN Director, in late 2019, the campaign began to raise $2 million in five-year pledges to support MOKAN’s business development programs and services through 2024.

“We are very appreciative of our partners and investors,” says Robyn, Director of the Partnership. “This expressed support validates our regional focus on business retention, attraction, and expansion efforts and addressing growing workforce needs. Communities and business leaders recognize the value of banding together to leverage resources for growth, especially now.”

Based in Joplin, Missouri, the Partnership serves a seven-county region across Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma, including Barton, Jasper, Newton, and McDonald Counties in Missouri; Crawford and Cherokee Counties in Kansas; and Ottawa County in Oklahoma. Recently, the Partnership launched a new website to help leaders navigate state and local business incentives, demographic data, and other regional attributes to help support decision makers.

“We are problem solvers and work with industry and community leaders to identify resources and help resolve issues that hinder business development,” explains Robyn.

Additionally, the Partnership appointed Andrew Temm as Business Development Coordinator to assist in regional growth efforts. Temm will connect with regional business leaders to advance economic development, support business expansions, and bolster regional partnerships.

“Andrew is a valuable addition to our team and we are happy to welcome him aboard,” says Matthew Cox, MOKAN Board Chair. “This is a new phase in the Partnership, and we’re excited to add Andrew’s skillset to our toolbox. The team has done a tremendous job and I look forward to watching their progress as they forge new projects from a conceptual stage to closed deals within our region.”

The Partnership’s new website is live and may be viewed at www.mokanpartnership.com/.
