The Carthage Area United Way is gearing up for its 24th Annual United Way Day of Caring event on Friday, June 14th. Day of Caring incorporates individuals and local companies to volunteer at the various area nonprofit agencies across Jasper County. Various projects include yard work, painting, paperwork, and other necessary duties.

“We updated our Day of Caring to provide more time at the local nonprofits this year with 160 volunteers to organize, we wanted to ensure that we are meeting everyone’s expectations, “said Barbara Wright, Executive Director.

The added volunteers offered an opportunity to include other nonprofit organizations this year. Local nonprofit organizations included in Day of Caring are Carthage Crosslines, artCentral, Carthage Humane Society, Vision Carthage, Jasper County 4-H, Salvation Army (Carthage location), Children’s Haven, Lafayette House, Children’s Mercy Hospital Joplin Clinic, Community Support Early Learning Center, and Boy Scouts of America (assisting at Frank Childress Campground).
