Tensions ran high and both sides of the gym were packed as the Carthage Tigers wrestled at Neosho for the annual Black and Blue Brawl.  In a dual where every match affects the possible outcome, Neosho reigned victorious with a 39-24 win.  “Our biggest competition has always been Neosho,” said Coach Kenny Brown.  “This will be the first year we’re not in the same district or school classification, so we won’t be competing beyond conference.  They always give us everything they’ve got, and we definitely use that to prepare us for matches at districts and state.”

This “Battle of the Undefeateds” was tooth and nail until Neosho managed to widen the gap about midway through the evening.  “I couldn’t be prouder with the way my guys wrestled,” Coach Brown stated.  “We never gave up, we were tough and we had them on the rails.  Our team and our crowd went nuts and supported us and you can’t ask for anything more than that.”

Carthage, now 8-1, will next wrestle at Webb City on January 22nd and at home versus McDonald County and Marshfield for Senior Night on January 24th.
