Lady Tiger swim team competes in two different meets

The Carthage Lady Tigers swim team had a busy week, competing in two swim meets.  The first meet, the Monett Duals, was held on December 4.  At this meet, the ladies placed fourth out of 13 teams with 238 points, behind Webb City (359), Monett (302), and Carl Junction (266).  

In the 200-yard Medley Relay, the team consisting of Karsen Dininger, Carrie Wallace, Nadya Housh, and Cassidy Smith placed fourth with a time of 2:10.71.

In the 200-yard Freestyle, Hope Fultz placed eighth with a 2:28.64, while Gracie Huelat placed twelfth with a time of 2:34.16. Genesis Sibal placed 25th with a time of 2:55.82 and Elena Wright placed 26th with a time of 2:58.59.

In the 200-yard Individual Medley, Housh placed fifth with a time of 2:40.72.  Wallace placed seventh with a time of 2:48.11.  Eryn Wagoner placed 13th with a time of 2:57.12.

For the 50-yard Freestyle, Dininger placed 12th with a time of 30.01, while Ainsley Frieling took 14th with a time of 30.60.  Julianna Smith came in 26th with a time of 33.65.

Housh placed fifth in the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 1:12.99 and Olivia Wright placed 13th with a time of 1:40.08.

In the 100-yard Freestyle event, Cassidy placed fourth with a time of 1:02.53.  Frieling placed 12th with a time of 1:08.28.  Juliana placed 22nd with 1:16.77, and Erica Shaner placed 30th with a time of 1:26.68.

In the 500-yard Freestyle, Carthage had four girls place, with Huelat coming seventh with a 7:01.40, Wright taking 9th with a 7:14.22, Elena took 15th with a time of 7:46.48, and Hadley took 18th with a time of 8:00.80.

For the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Cassidy, Fultz, Housh, and Frieling took sixth with a time of 2:00.06.

Dininger took sixth in the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 1:15.95, while Fultz came in at 11th with 1:19.97.  Sibal took 16th  with a time of 1:27.82 and Hadley came in 25th with a time of 1:38.46.

In the 100-yard Breaststroke, Wallace placed eighth with a time of 1:21.72.  Cassidy took 10th with a time of 1:23.37, Mackenzie Polley was 14th with a 1:27.73, and Wagoner took 17th with a time of 1:30.04.  

In the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Fultz, Frieling, Wallace, and  Dininger came in at sixth place with a time of 4:38.81.

The second meet of the week for the Lady Tigers was the Winnetonka Holiday Invitational, which was held in Kansas City on December 7 and 8.  

For the 200-yard Medley Relay, the relay team of Dininger, Wallace, Housh, and Cassidy placed seventh with a time of 2:09.08, earning 24 points toward the team’s total score.

In the 100-yard Butterfly, Housh finished 16th with a time of 1:11.02, to add another point to the team total.

The 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of Cassidy, Fultz, Housh, and Dininger placed 12th to add another 10 points to the team total with a time of 1:57.55.

In the 100-yard Breaststroke, Wallace placed eighth with a time of 1:18.50 to add another 11 points to the team score.

The 400-yard Freestyle Relay team of Cassidy, Fultz, Housh, and Dininger brought home another 24 points with their seventh-place finish, with a time of 4:22.26.  This brought the team’s total to 70 points for the weekend and landed them in the 10th place position out of a 33-team field. 

“This was the highest finish we have had in a few years.  We enjoy traveling together and competing against teams that we seldom see anywhere else,” Coach Braden McBride said. “It gives the girls an opportunity to compete on a bigger stage.  The ladies posted 20 personal records.  They had a very solid showing.”
