Approaching the end of the year, the Carthage Tiger Wrestling team now boasts a 6-0 record on the season with wins Tuesday night over both Reeds Spring and Ozark.  The Tigers started the evening with a 66-6 victory over Reeds Spring in a dominant effort by both junior varsity and varsity alike. With the jv winning all nine matches, Carthage dominated by pinning every opponent.  Carthage Head Coach, Kenny Brown, continues to be impressed by the efforts of his junior varsity team. “It’s great that we have the depth and numbers that we do.  That’s what makes our program so successful.  Being able to work with Carthage alumni day in and day out, as well as learning from such a strong varsity lineup – that’s what helps our kids grow.”  Varsity continued the evening’s success by only dropping 6 points and two losses to Reeds Spring in front of a packed gym.

The Tigers then faced off against Ozark in what turned out to be a barn burner.  With three matches to go in the varsity dual and a tied score, juniors Kale Schrader (220) and Brener Ocana (285), along with freshman Braxdon Tate (106) proceeded to seal the victory with three pins.  The 45-27 win leads Carthage to next week’s varsity dual tournament in Springdale, Arkansas on December 28th and 29th.  Tiger Wrestlers will entertain their next home crowd on January 24th in the auxiliary gym for senior night versus McDonald County and Marshfield.
