Melvin Chambell, 69, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020, at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, OK.
Melvin was born October 31, 1950, in Los Angeles, CA to Henry and Ina “Pendleton” Chambell. He was a lifetime resident of Carthage, served in the United States Navy and retired in 2005 after working for Leggett & Platt for 28 years. He was a member of the Grand Avenue Church of God.
Melvin was united in marriage to Terri “Pendergraft” on December 5, 1974, in Carthage; she survives.
Melvin is also survived by one son, Chris Chambell of Joplin; one daughter, Kyla Novinger (Clay) of Mt. Pleasant, IA; five grandchildren, Ashlee Wilson, Payton Novinger, Emma Novinger, Quenton Novinger and Aaron Hutchins; two great-grandchildren, Timothy Wilson and Logan Wilson; three brothers, Ron Chambell, John Chambell and Terry Chambell (Karen); three sisters, Joan Poulson, Linda Pruitt and Cheryl Hobbs.
Melvin was preceded in death by one sister, Elaine Gilbert; three brothers, David Gilbert, Wayne Gilbert and Mike Chambell.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Ulmer Funeral Home, with full military honors following.
