Shannon Rene Webster, 63, Carthage, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on Sunday afternoon, September 13, 2020, following a short illness.

Shannon was born May 16, 1957, in Carthage, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph John Morgan and Phyllis (Zent) Morgan. She was a 1975 graduate of Carthage High School. Shannon then attended two years at Missouri Southern State College. She married Richard M. Webster Jr. on June 4, 1977, in Carthage.

She was a lifelong resident of the Carthage area and from her childhood developed a very strong work ethic. She had a paper route when she was very young, worked as a car-hop at a local root beer stand, worked at McCune Brooks Hospital in housekeeping and for Fairview Greenhouse. She also worked at Schreiber Foods and for many years was the secretary at the Carthage Fire Department. When her father and mother started the family business, Morgan Pallets, Inc., she became the office manager there and continued in that capacity until her death.

She was a devout Christian and attended James River Church in Joplin where she and her husband were involved in the One Heart Food Ministry.

Shannon was a devoted wife and adoring mother. Her husband and her two children were her life. Her smile was contagious and her laugh infectious. She was a lover of travel, coffee, books, fashion, the Christmas season, and her beloved dog Maxx. She loved to decorate for all the holidays and seasons. Serving people was her passion and she made it her life’s ministry to share the love of Christ with fervency and grace. “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:28-29.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; a daughter, Jordynn E. Webster, Kansas City, Missouri; a son, Richard N. “Nate” Webster (Ashley), Harrison, Arkansas; her mother, Phyllis Morgan, Carthage; a brother, John L. “Monty” Morgan (Debbie), Carthage; a sister, Brenda Hutchins, Carthage; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph John Morgan and a brother, Peter Morgan.
