Volley William Fullerton, Jr., known by all as “Bud”, of Carthage, Missouri, went to be with our Lord Friday July 3, 2020, at the ripe ole age of 90, surrounded by his loving family; as he would say “Cause of death TMB”, too many birthdays.
Bud was born April 12, 1930 in La Russell, Missouri to father, Volley William Fullerton, Sr., and mother, Willia (Roux) Fullerton. He was a 1948 graduate of Carthage High School where he ran track and played football. According to him, he was the fastest in Carthage history and no one could catch him. On August 15, 1958 he married the love of his life, Norma Jean Nappier. After 55 wonderful years of marriage, she preceded him in death on November 7, 2013.
Bud dedicated 38 years as a purchasing manager for Steadley Co. in Carthage. After retirement, he continued his love of farming and raising animals. He enjoyed sharing this love with children in hopes they would find the peace, joy, and love for this life that he had. Many of his animals have found forever homes with various families across Jasper County. He also enjoyed spending many hours following and supporting his favorite grandchildren, Tyler and Jordan, with their baseball, soccer, and many other accomplishments.
Bud was a wonderful loving husband, Dad, Papa, uncle, and friend. His smile was contagious and sometimes mischievous. He was truly loved by all who met him and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include a son, Steve Fullerton and his wife Lorie; grandchildren, Tyler and Jordan Fullerton, all of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Those waiting to welcome him in heaven are his parents; a daughter, Anna “Cathy” Fullerton; three brothers, Gerald Fullerton, Don Fullerton, and Kaye Fullerton; a sister, Virginia Dintaman; and nephews, Larry Fullerton, and Richard Alumbaugh.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, Avalon Hospice, Wilkinson Pharmacy, and friends who have helped take care of Dad/Papa. The love and kindness everyone have shown will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 9 am – 11 am, Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. A private family graveside will be held at Park Cemetery, Carthage.
