Jasper County sees first confirmed COVID-19 case

The Jasper County Health Department in Carthage, Mo., announced the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the county Friday, March 20, 2020.

According to the health department, the person had recently traveled to Europe and was in self-quarantine before getting tested on March 18. The patient’s name is not being released to protect the patient’s identity.

Jasper County Health Department staff are working with the Missouri Dept. of Health and Senior Services to determine any close contacts this individual may have had with others.
