Myrna Corinne Coiner, 81, Carthage, Mo., passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 26, 2020, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, Mo.
Myrna was born Sept. 8, 1938, in Carthage; the daughter of Loyd Owen Coiner and Mildred Naomi Coiner. She was a 1958 graduate of Carthage Senior High School. She was baptized at a young age at the First Baptist Church, Carthage, where she later worked with young women in a mission group called YWA. She often played tennis at Griggs Park in Carthage. Myrna was active in the Order of the Eastern Star organization when Grandmother Coiner-McCracken was a leader.
Myrna started her career of 50 years with Walmart in Carthage, and later returned to the Carthage store where she was still employed at this time. Myrna was a giving, loving person, especially to her family first and then her many friends at Walmart; always greeting them with the question “What do you need, what can I get for you?”
Survivors include two sisters, Shirley (Robert) Collins, Springfield, Mo., and Norma (Phil) Jones, Nixa, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Erma Coiner Stokes, Springfield; seven nieces and nephews, Chris Coiner, Kelly Coiner, Kim Milner, Phillip Jones, Julie Hamby, Lori Myers and Doug Collins; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, many cousins, and her life-long best friend, Judy McCoy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Loyd L. Coiner; and a sister, Beverley A. Coiner.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service. Interment will follow the service at Paradise Cemetery, Jasper, Missouri.
