Emma Jane Cameron, age 72, passed away at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo., with her family by her side. She was born Jan. 13, 1948 to Dorothy Talbert Cameron and Joseph A. Cameron. Emma Jane attended Exeter Elementary school, Exeter, MO, Carthage Junior High School and Graduated from Carthage Senior High school in 1966.
Emma Jane was a longtime member of Carthage First Baptist Church and loved singing in the church choir. She attended SMSU, Springfield, Mo., and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in music education. She enjoyed teaching vocal and instrumental music to her young students.
Emma Jane later returned to Carthage and made her home with her mother and due to health issues, she lived at Carthage Health and Rehab Center for a number of years.
Emma Jane is survived by her brother Paul and Sister-in-law Cherri, her nephew Stacy Cameron and wife Andrea of Eldorado Springs, Mo., Niece Melissa Cameron of St. Louis, great-nephews, nieces and cousins. She dearly loved her friends Linda Allsbury-Short and Linda Weber.
The body has been taken for cremation and services will be held at a later date. Contributions can be made to Carthage Health and Rehab.
