The Carthage girls’ varsity team travelled to Willard Friday night for an evening tournament, while the junior varsity boys went to Labette County Saturday morning. The ladies brought home an impressive 8th place finish on the evening, competing against 20 other teams. Kaylee James brought home a first-place finish at 130 lbs., almost pinning her way through the entire evening, but for a major decision in her semifinal match. Maylee Brown finished second in her 110 pound weight class, dropping only the finals match to Marshfield’s Graclyn Hursh. Irish Lee rounded out the podium with her third place finish over Har-Ber’s Kaylee Whitaker at 140 pounds. The varsity girls’ team travels to Kickapoo on January 21st to wrestle the Chiefs and Lebanon Yellowjackets, then to Liberty this weekend for the Queen of the North Tournament.
