Lloyd Jennings Cooley, Jr., 86, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025, at home in Carthage, Missouri. Lloyd was born in Carthage on September 14, 1938. He was born, raised and attended school in Carthage. Lloyd was part of the graduating class of 1957 from Carthage High School. Lloyd started working at Carthage Marble in 1957 and retired in 1997 as a supervisor of the Crushing Department. Through the years, he coached baseball in the Carthage League for all ages. Lloyd was involved in cattle ranching and custom hay work his whole life. He was a member of The Bridge: A Christian Church, Carthage, Missouri. Lloyd was a former Rotary member, was part of the Limestone Association, and was a Mason with Carthage Lodge #197 AF & AM.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Sharon Sue Fasken on November 27, 1957, in the First Christian Church, Carthage, Missouri; she survives.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Sharon Cooley; a son, Michael “Mick” Cooley (Debbie) of Carthage; two grandchildren, Zachary Cooley (Alenya) and Whitney Webber (Chad); two great grandchildren, Layla and Jay Webber; and one brother, Wayne Bass (Barbara).
Lloyd is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd J. Cooley, Sr.; his mother and stepdad, Ethel and Lee Bass; and one sister, Shirley Alexander Banta.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Burial will be at Fasken Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri.
