Carthage man cited for DWI after driving off embankment into Dry Fork River with 3 and 4-year-olds in car

A Carthage man was cited for driving while intoxicated after three people were injured in a one-vehicle accident 9 p.m. Sunday on County Road 120 four miles north of Carthage.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2010 Hyundai Accent driven by Dakota D. Crews, 26, Carthage, ran off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment and overturned into Dry Fork River.

Crews and two passengers, a 3-year-old boy and a 4-year-old boy, were treated for minor injuries at Mercy Joplin.

The Patrol report indicates the driver and both passengers were wearing safety devices.
