Walter Arturo Moran Ruiz, 23, Carthage, Missouri, passed away early Sunday morning, October 6, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. Walter was born May 16, 2001, in Juayua, Sonsonate, El Salvador, the son of Joel Moran and Rosa Del Transito. He worked at Sirloin Stockade in Carthage. Walter loved to play futbol and dance, but most of all, loved his family and friends. He emigrated to the United States to fulfill the American dream, but cancer didn’t allow him to live a normal life. He battled leukemia for 6 years and now he rests in the arms of the Lord.
Survivors include his father, Joel Moran; his sister, Regina Guadalupe Moran Ruiz (husband Sergio); his aunt, Hilda Martinez; his girlfriend, Cassandra Hartzler; his caretakers and friends, Mark and Laura Young; two nieces; a nephew; multiple cousins; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Del Transito; and his grandfather, Juan Antonio Ruiz.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Knell Mortuary. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri. Walter will lie in state from 10 am – 5 pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Knell Mortuary for those who wish to sign the register book and pay respects. Walter nació el 16 de mayo de 2001 en Juayua, Sonsonate, El Salvador, hijo de Joel Morán y Rosa Del Tránsito. Trabajó en Sirloin Stockade en Cartago. A Walter le encantaba jugar al fútbol y bailar, pero sobre todo, amaba a su familia. Emigró a Estados Unidos para cumplir el sueño americano, pero el cáncer no le permitió llevar una vida normal.
