CARTHAGE, Mo. — First responders from Carthage are uniting with Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the sole supplier of blood, plasma, and platelets to patients at more than 40 area healthcare facilities, for the annual Carthage Beach Boots, Badges Community Challenge Blood Drive.

The blood drive will take place on Wednesday, June 26 at Carthage Memorial Hall, 407 S. Garrison. Drive hours are from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The Boots, Badges and Bandages Community Challenge Blood Drive is a fun event which provides an opportunity for the community to come together and support local patients, while at the same time honoring area first responders for the magnificent work they do every day. It is also a friendly competition between the fire and police departments with a traveling trophy awarded to the department with the strongest showing.

The summer is commonly a challenging time for blood donations and the local blood supply. “We appreciate the support of the local Fire, Police, and first responders, who understand the importance of a strong, local blood supply and host a Boots and Badges Community Challenge Blood Drive,” said CBCO Media Relations Representative, Michelle Teter. “Your blood donation could very well save the life of a family member, friend, colleague, or neighbor. Please consider helping us make a difference in the community.”

All donors will receive a special limited edition, Boots, Badges and Bandages T-shirt and TWO FREE TICKETS to an upcoming Springfield Cardinals game, while supplies last.

To help avoid wait times, appointments are strongly encouraged. Donors can schedule an appointment by calling 417-227-5006 or online at www.cbco.org/donate-blood.

Photo identification required. Please eat well and drink plenty of fluids prior to the blood drive.

On behalf of local hospital patients, CBCO thanks blood donors from across the region for giving life to your community.
