Tigers drop double header at Logan-Rogersville 1-2 and 6-7

Despite the Carthage Tigers out-hitting Logan-Rogersville in both games, Carthage found themselves on the wrong end of two close games Saturday.

In game one, Blayne Lilienkamp (1-2, 3.94 ERA) started for Carthage and took the loss. He went five innings, surrendered two runs on four hits, struck out seven and walked four. Brady Carlton pitched one inning in relief.

Colson Brust led Carthage with one RBI and was 1-for-2 in the game. Brust drove in Carlton in the sixth after he doubled earlier in the inning.

Taylor Stevens-Diggs and Carlton both had two hits each. Overall for the game, the Tigers out-hit Logan-Rogersville eight to four.

In game two, Brodie Cole (1-4, 7.22 ERA) was on the mound for Carthage but didn’t factor into the decision. Cole allowed three hits and four runs over four and one-third innings, striking out none and walking four. Eider Lyckman, Bradyn Tate and Carlton all pitched in relief for Carthage. Lyckman pitched one and two-thirds innings allowing one run. Tate allowed two runs in the loss.

Carthage grabbed the lead from Logan-Rogersville in the top of the seventh when Landon West scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-4. Ethan Stark singled later in the inning to push the score to 6-4, but Carthage was unable to hold the lead.

The Tigers out-hit Logan-Rogersville 13 to seven.

Carthage (11-12) faces Joplin Tuesday at home. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
