CARTHAGE, Mo. — Carthage Intermediate Center has earned distinction as a Promising Practices Professional Learning Community at Work®, as recognized by Solution Tree for its outstanding progress in enhancing student achievement. This accolade underscores the Carthage School District’s steadfast commitment to implementing the PLC at Work process, which has significantly advanced student learning outcomes.
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) are schools and districts in which educators recognize that the key to improved learning for students is ongoing, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve those students. The three big ideas of a PLC call upon educators to:
- Focus on Learning
- Building a Collaborative Culture
- Creating a Results Orientation
In response to this prestigious recognition, CIC Principal, Dr. Scott Ragsdale expressed, “We are deeply honored by this recognition, which validates our efforts and affirms our commitment to continuous improvement.”
Promising Practices schools demonstrate a strong foundation rooted in PLC principles, with consistent implementation over one to two years and tangible evidence of improved student learning during this period. Upon achieving measurable results, schools detail their practices, structures, and culture in an application submitted to the PLC Review Committee for consideration.
