A Carthage woman was arrested for felony driving while intoxicated following a fatal head-on collision 7:13 a.m. Tuesday on MO 43 one mile north of Southwest City.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2018 Honda Pilot driven by Idania J. Monterroso Ortiz, 21, Carthage, crossed the center of the roadway and struck a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Irvin W. Roach, 47, Afton, Oklahoma.
McDonald County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Fletcher pronounced Roach dead at 9:17 a.m.
Monterroso Ortiz, who was treated for minor injuries at Integris Grove Hospital, Grove, Oklahoma, was also cited for careless and imprudent driving.
The fatality was the first this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
