Aletha Hope Lankford, 92, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Tuesday evening, May 9, 2023, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage.
Aletha was born April 25, 1931, in Neosho, Missouri, the daughter of the late James Cushman and Katie (Galey) Cushman. She was a graduate of Neosho High School. She was married to Eugene Haas for 20 years, and to this union, two children were born; they later divorced. Aletha then married Harold Lee Lankford on March 20, 1971, in Springfield, Missouri; he preceded her in death on September 6, 2016. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, Carthage. Aletha really loved church and loved her St. Luke’s family.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Blair (Jerry Maloney), Osage Beach, Missouri; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Micheal Haas; a brother, Gerald Cushman; and a sister, Joy Bush.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Friday, May 12, 2023, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. The burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri. The family will receive friends before the service from 10 am – 11 am. Memorial gifts are suggested to Crossroads Baptist Church in care of Knell Mortuary.
