The Carthage Lady Tigers dropped a close one 48-42 Friday, Feb. 17 at Willard.
Carthage managed to jump out to a 23-8 lead after the first quarter fueled by Kianna Yates’s 13 points, however, the second and third quarters saw the Tigers score a total of nine points, allowing Willard back into the game. Willard pulled away for good in the third quarter to push Carthage to 10-14 on the season.
Kianna Yates led the Tigers in scoring with 17 points followed by Lauren Choate’s seven points. Landry Cochran added six points while Jaidyn Brunnert finished with five points. Zye Clark chipped in the three points and Maggie Boyd and Lexa Youngblood added two points a piece.
The Tigers travel to Neosho Monday and Cassville Thursday before heading to the district tournament on March 2 at Nixa High School as the No. 6 seed where they face the No. 3 Kickapoo Chiefs.
