Thursday night the Tiger Wrestling Team chalked its second loss on the year to a full Bolivar team.
“I hate to sound like a broken record, but we’re like the walking wounded this year,” said head coach Kenny Brown. “About the time I get one kid back, two go down with illness or injury and skin conditions. It’s obviously discouraging to give up six points with an open weight class, but it can’t be helped. I was very pleased to see that my varsity lineup did exactly what they needed to do to keep their matches close.”
With varsity starters Ayden Nye (126 lbs.) and Kip Castor (144 lbs.) being two of the team’s missing wrestlers, sophomores Israel Perez and Joe Pantoja stepped in to fill their spots. Bolivar’s strong group of seniors led the team to victory, though, even after Carthage posted three pins in the first three matches.
Here are the results from the Carthage Wrestling dual with Bolivar on 01/12/23. Carthage was still without several wrestlers due to several factors (i.e. injuries, skin conditions, illness, etc.) Carthage is now 4-2 on the dual season.
Carthage—36
Bolivar—45
