Edna Mae Ward, 98, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at St. Lukes Nursing Center. Edna was born on November 6, 1923, in Lamar, Arkansas, to J.B. Hendrix and Rebecca Octavia “Berry” Hendrix. Some of her favorite pastimes were sewing and maintaining her garden and yard. During the 1940’s she traveled to Oregon and helped work on the battleships in preparation for World War II.
Edna was joined in marriage to Ralph Ward on May 3, 1941, in Neosho, Missouri; he preceded her in death on January 21, 2002.
She is survived by two grandsons Andy Talbott and wife Chelsea, and Brian Talbott and wife Erin; four great-grandchildren Kenny, Lucas, Matt, and Page and her son-in-law, Gene Talbott.
Along with her husband, Ralph and parents, Edna was preceded in death by one son, Carl Ward; two daughters Kathlene Ward and Karen Talbott; and siblings, Atticus, J.B. Jr., Floyd, Don, Leono, Irene, Olivia, Juanita, Lois, and Opal.
A graveside service will be held for Edna at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the Macedonia Cemetery in Stella, Missouri.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
