The mission of the Carthage Technical Center is based upon the belief that all people should have the opportunity to prepare themselves for gainful employment and thereby live democratic, useful, satisfactory lives.

Carthage Technical Center recently recognized Carthage 2022 Seniors who earned the highest level on the ACT WorkKeys assessment. This assessment is an online and created by the American College Testing (ACT). Three WorkKeys assessments are available; Workplace Documents, Graphic Literacy, and Applied Math. Individuals whose score meet certain industry standards have an opportunity to earn the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). The NCRC is an industry-recognized, portable, evidence-based credential that certifies essential skills needed for the workplace.  WorkKeys assessments measure “real world” skills that employers believe are critical to job success.  Test questions are based on situations in the everyday work world.

According to Work Ready Communities, there are currently 27,547 employers in the nation who endorse the NCRC. In the state of Missouri alone, there are 5,338 employers who endorse the NCRC. Locally, Carthage Water & Electric is currently using the ACT WorkKeys, NCRC, has part of their hiring process.  ACT WorkKeys interviewed C W & E and created a video to share on their website. Another local company, Crossland Construction requires their employees to earn the ACT WorkKeys and award pay raises according to the level of their NCRC.
