Lowell Catron thinks each of his three golfers learned a lot from their first trip to the state tournament.

Carthage’s Rylee Scott, Naomi Lehrer and Hailey Bryant represented the Tigers at Monday and Tuesday’s Class 2 girls golf state championship at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City.

“Hopefully they say it’s just another round or two of golf,” Catron said Tuesday.

Scott, a sophomore, led the trio with a two-day score of 197 (97-100) to finish in a tie for 73rd place. Rehrer, a senior, placed 81st after scoring 204 (105-99) and Bryant, a freshman, shot 211 (109-102) to place 86th.

“The fanfare around the clubhouse and all the people is different, but once they tee it up and start it’s just playing golf,” Catron said. “Hailey being a freshman and Rylee being a sophomore, it’s a great chance to learn about that and it gives them something to look forward to and work toward. They want to get back there and they’ll really improve.”

Catron said he was glad Rehrer was rewarded for her four years of playing for Carthage.

Locally, Carl Junction’s Jenna Teeter finished in a four-way tie for 12th place, shooting 82-80-162. McDonald County’s Lily Allman tied for 40th at 177.
