Ronald Lee Fenton

Ronald Lee Fenton, 87, Granbury, Texas, a man known for his loving nature, quick wit, and adventurous spirit, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Courtyards at Lake Granbury, Granbury, Texas. He was born on November 2, 1938, in Webb City, Missouri, the son of the late Orville Carlton Fenton and Edith Marie (Folks Rhodes) Fenton.

A proud 1957 graduate of Carthage High School, Ronald dedicated many years of service as a painter for the United States Air Force Civil Service. His work not only showcased his meticulous skill but also his commitment to excellence and his country. Ronald’s colleagues remember him as a man who brought humor and dedication to every task he undertook. Outside of work, Ronald was an active member of both the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge, where he formed lasting friendships and contributed to the community. His love for life was perhaps most evident in his biggest passion: traveling the country in his RV. Ronald was always on the move, seeking new adventures and experiences with a sense of freedom that inspired all who knew him.

Casinos were a favorite destination for Ronald, where he enjoyed the thrill of the game and the joy of a good time. His laughter could light up any room, and his presence was a guarantee of fun and excitement. Ronald’s love for animals and the children in his family was profound. He had a special way of connecting with each of them, leaving a legacy of cherished memories. An avid sports fan, Ronald’s enthusiasm for football was contagious, and his loyalty to the Kansas City Chiefs was unwavering. Game days were sacred, and his spirited support for his team was a testament to his enduring love for the game.

Ronald is survived by his sister, Shirley Sewell; his niece, Robyn Blades; his nephews, Jeff Blades (Cris), and Mark Conklin (Cindi); his great-nephew and nieces, Quinn Blades, Marcel Lotter, Fidela Marquez, and Christin Bender; and his great-great-niece, Emmalyn Bender. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his extended family and a wide circle of friends who were all touched by his generous and jovial nature. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carlene Blades.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Ronald will lie in state from 12 pm – 5 pm, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, and from 8 am – 12 pm, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Knell Mortuary for those who wish to pay their respects and sign the register book. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Carthage Humane Society in care of Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
