Alma Jo Nelson of Carthage, Missouri, died at the age of 91, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. She was born to Henry and Eva Pterson on August 24, 1934, in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Aurora, Missouri. She was employed with Carthage Water and Electric Plant for 35 years.
She loved to read and work seek and find puzzles, and she liked sports and her favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.
She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Eva Peterson; two brothers Keneth and Henry Jr. Peterson.
She is survived by one son, Mike Nelson (Kathy) of Aurora, Missouri; one daughter Vickie Stiles (Jerry) of Carthage; four grandchildren Kris Stiles, Nick Stiles, Allison Morgan (Everett), and Laurie Collins of Carthage, Missouri; eight great grandchildren, Kaidense Stiles, Brayden Stiles, EJ, Tyuha, Jayden, Langston Morgan, and Landyn and Lathan Collins; and two great great granddaughters, Alaiyah Marie Morgan and Dreamlee.
A graveside service will be held for Alma at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
