Gary Lee Waynick

Gary Lee Waynick, 74, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 after a long illness. A memorial gathering of family and friends celebrating Gary’s life will be held from 1 to 4 P.M. on Saturday, March 28, 2026 in “The Bistro” at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.

Gary Lee Waynick was born August 30, 1951 in Carthage, Missouri to Andrew and Wanda (Byrd) Waynick. He graduated from Carthage Senior High School. He earned a finance degree from Missouri Southern State College. He worked at several manufacturing plants in Missouri, and relocated to Maquoketa, Iowa to become controller at The CB Company.

Gary married Janis Caldwell (Kilburg) on Jan. 18, 1991, in Maquoketa, Iowa. They moved to Prairie du Chien, WI in 1992 where Gary worked for Quality Wood and then later worked for Prairie Industries. He enjoyed bowling and golf until he shattered his shoulder in 2005. He enjoyed keeping up on the news, reading books, and watching sports on TV. They returned to Maquoketa, Iowa in 2025.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Janis, stepsons Shad Caldwell, Jeffrey (Jessica) Caldwell, his daughter, Kristie (Chris) Wagner, bonus son, Mike (Kerriann) Placko, step grandchildren Austin(Maddie) Caldwell, Summer Caldwell, Torran and Kirkland Caldwell, grandsons Ronald and Robert Wagner, 3 step great grandsons, his brother, Mike Waynick, nephews Andrew (Hayley) Waynick, Rusty (Rita) Waynick and 3 great nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Andrew and Wanda, sister, Janis Swan, brother-in-law Chester Swan, and sister-in- law, Rayma Waynick.

In lieu of flowers or plants a memorial fund has been established.
