Vision Carthage Encourages Community to Plant Patriotic Gardens for Red, White & Bloom Initiative

CARTHAGE, Mo. – Vision Carthage is encouraging the community to adopt red, white and blue flowers in its garden plans this year. The nonprofit is putting a patriotic twist on its Carthage in Bloom initiative, which seeks to recognize the most beautiful flower beds within Carthage city limits. The contest kicks off in May with nominations for the best landscaping open through June 12.

Up to two winners will be recognized from each of Carthage’s five wards. In addition to residential landscaping, the community is invited to nominate local businesses as well as nonprofits.

“We would love to see people’s creativity and patriotism on display this year,” said Sally Stuart, Co Director of Vision Carthage. “It’s something special to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. We have gardeners who look forward to competing for awards each year, and this puts a fun twist on things.”

The Red, White & Bloom Awards will be presented to winners at a special ceremony to be held on Saturday, June 27, during the 2nd Annual Evening Soiree in Central Park.

Vision Carthage plans on leading by example, planting a series of red, white and blue flowers on the Historic Carthage Square through its recent partnership with Joplin Greenhouse.
