Mary Anna Babcock, age 89, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at St Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage, Missouri.  Mary was born on January 28, 1936, in Carthage, Missouri, where she lived her entire life.

Mary was a hard worker and was employed by Juvenile Shoe, Big Smith and Schreiber Cheese, where she was employed at the time of her retirement.

She was a very talented seamstress, designing and sewing curtains, swimwear, reupholstering furniture and even reupholstered a 1956 Chevrolet. Mary loved crocheting, flower gardening and decorating.

Mary came from a large family of nine children. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Everette Cole and Myrtle Rose (Curry) Cole; and seven siblings, John Cole, Alice Kost, Larry Cole, Ronald Cole, Richard Cole, Chuck Cole and Sherry Burlingame.

Mary is survived by a sister, Connie Jones (Sam); two sisters-in-law, Sharon Cole Terry and Sandra Cole; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was married to Bob Babcock in 1956. They divorced in 1987. They had 3 children, LeeAnn, Joe, and Misty.

Mary requested no visitation and a private graveside service.

Memorial contributions may be sent in memory of Mary to Visiting Angels, St Luke’s Nursing Center or The National Alliance on Mental Illness in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
