The tradition of holiday lights in Carthage dates back to candles and lamplights, but the fathers at the CMR started building a notable presence for Carthage Christmas lights in 1984. With over a million bulbs, the half-mile tour of lights is perfect for a slow drive or long walk with the family. The electro-art sculptures represent a variety of stories from the New and Old Testaments that share the history of human salvation. Sculptures include Jonah and the Whale, Moses parting the Red Sea, David, and Goliath, and many more. The purpose of the Way of Salvation lighting tour is to share the depth of Christian meaning in the Christmas observance with all people. View or download the brochure with photos here. Donations are appreciated at the end of the tour to support improvements to future displays. For additional questions, call 417-358-7787.
