Diane Joy Ohmart, 59, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Tuesday evening, September 1, 2020, at her home with family by her side.
Diane was born January 14, 1961, in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd A. Powers and Shirley Joy (VanMeter) Powers. She was a 1979 graduate of Thayer High School, Thayer, Kansas. She then attended Ozark Bible College, Neosho Community College, Missouri Southern State College, and then Pittsburg State University, where she received her master’s degree. Diane married the love of her life, Terry Ohmart, on June 7, 1980, in Thayer, Kansas. She worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Christian counselor, and a chaplain at Freeman Hospital. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Carthage. Diane loved crafts, gardening, cookouts, and traveling, but most of all, spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Terry; two daughters, Heather Cook (Jonathan), Mesa, Arizona, and Hannah Winningham (Tyler), Carthage; two grandchildren, Wyatt Winningham and Huntlee Winningham; four brothers, David Powers (Barbara), Kent Powers (Karen), Garold Powers, Rick Powers (Kim); and a sister, Lesa Stafford (Greg); mother-in-law, Anita Ohmart; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, September 5, 2020, at First Christian Church, Carthage. The family will receive friends following the service.
