On June 9th, 2026, around 10:54 pm, The Joplin Emergency Communications Center began receiving 911 calls about an unknown injury crash involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle near the intersection of 24th and Maiden Lane. Joplin Police, Fire, and M.E.T.S. were dispatched.
Upon officers’ arrival, they located a vehicle vs. motorcycle crash. They located one male that was unresponsive with life threating injuries. The male was the sole occupant of the motorcycle involved in the crash.
Officers began emergency medical aid to the male which was turned over to Joplin Fire and M.E.T.S. on their arrival.
Despite continued rescue efforts, the unresponsive male was later declared deceased at the scene.
No other injuries were reported at that time.
The preliminary investigation of the crash revealed that a passenger vehicle was leaving Cunningham Park’s parking lot preparing to make a left, southbound turn onto Maiden Ln. The motorcycle was northbound on Maiden Ln.
When the passenger vehicle continued with the left turn, the crash occurred.
The sole occupant of the motorcycle was identified as Tyler Williamson, 28 of Sarcoxie, Missouri. Next of kin has been notified.
Currently, this crash is still an active and ongoing investigation.
The Joplin Police Department wants to remind all motorists on the roadways to adhere to speed limits and stay aware while driving by always double checking for pedestrians and others on the roadways.
Additionally, the department was to remind all those who are on motorcycles and less visible vehicles to take every protective precaution available.
