Margaret Marie Smith, 43, Carthage, Missouri, passed away on June 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Margaret was born on February 10, 1981, the daughter of Rowland C. “R.C.” Diggs, Jr. and Pamela (Moreland) Diggs. Margaret’s life was a testament to her unwavering kindness and her ability to forge deep connections with everyone she met.
Margaret’s educational journey led her to Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri, where she earned her Associates of Biology degree. Her passion for knowledge and her meticulous nature served her well in her career as a bookkeeper for the Carthage Public Library. Margaret’s dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her family and friends. She married the love of her life, Garrett Smith, on July 11, 2009, with whom she shared a love that was the foundation of their family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 15 years, Garrett Smith; her children, Eric Danner, Suzanne Danner, Andie Matthews, and the twins, Fraya and Valla Smith; her four beloved grandchildren; her parents, R.C. and Pam Diggs; her brother, Justin Diggs; and many extended family members and friends.
Music filled Margaret’s home and heart, creating a soundtrack to the many joyous occasions celebrated with her loved ones. Her laughter was a melody that resonated within the walls of her home and in the hearts of those who knew her. Margaret’s love for her family was her greatest interest, and she cherished every moment spent in their company. She was very creative and eccentric, and researched things that interested her in depth, including stars, planets, gods, and how they aligned in the universe. She was definitely a special and unique person.
