The Carthage Tiger wrestlers traveled to Kansas City last weekend for a girl’s tournament in Belton and a boys’ double dual versus Ray-Pec and Sedalia. The girl faced competitors from the greater Kansas City area, with Hadley White (105) and Kaylee James (140) both taking third place in their weight classes.
The Tiger men’s wrestling squad suffered two dual losses against Sedalia and Ray-Pec Friday night, but took away some key wins on the evening. Kixson Reynolds (113), Grady Huntley (132), Jace Nichols (138) and Steve Serious (215) accounted for the men’s 22 points, with three pins and a major decision in the loss to Ray-Pec. The JV matches were pin or be pinned, with Ray-Pec taking five of the nine in their favor. The Smith-Cotton dual saw Carthage posting wins at five of fourteen weight classes, with Jace Nichols and Steve Serious both going 2-0 on the evening. The junior varsity team struggled more with the Smith-Cotton team, as only Erwin Paxtor (138) and Erick Mejia Castro (150) tallied wins for Carthage.
The girls competed in the Belton Tournament last weekend, finishing in 10th place.
